Its results were quite different to the watch’s, placing my body fat percentage at 18.1%, to the Galaxy Watch 4’s 22-23.5%. I did, however, have a chance to compare the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4’s results to those of a consumer-grade body fat analyzer scale from household favourite Salter. It’s accurate but not convenient, and I didn’t have access to such hardware ahead of this write-up. This compares the weight of a person underwater versus their weight on dry land. Hydrostatic weighting is one of the best ways to measure body fat. Whichever model you pick though the release date is the same – August 27 in most of the world, with Australia getting them on September 10, and pre-orders are open now.Galaxy Watch 4 Body Composition results Andrew Williams The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic though is more expensive, with a starting price of $349 / £349 / $549 for a 42mm model, rising to $399 / £389 / $649 if you want LTE. That’s for a 40mm Bluetooth model, with the price rising to $299.99 / £289 / AU$499 for an LTE one. The price is another big difference between these watches, with the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 starting at $249.99 / £249 / AU$399. Given that the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic also have the same screen sizes as each other we’d expect life will be more or less identical on the two larger models and the two smaller ones, though may differ between the two sizes. The small version of each has a 247mAh battery, while the large model has a 361mAh one. The battery size is also the same, though differs between the small and large versions of each watch. Most specs and features are the same on both models (Image credit: Future) Indeed, all of their health and fitness features are identical, including their exercise modes, sleep tracking, and the presence of an ECG (electrocardiogram). They both have a new Exynos W920 chipset paired with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, they both run Wear OS 3 with a custom Samsung overlay dubbed One UI Watch 3, and they both have GPS, NFC, and a new 3-in-1 sensor for measuring heart rate, blood oxygen levels and body composition. There’s no real difference between the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 and the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic when it comes to specs and features. The former offers better scratch resistance, and was perhaps included to match with the sporty nature of the Galaxy Watch 4, which could mean it’s more likely to get scuffed. Interestingly though the standard Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 actually has the edge in one way, as its screen is protected by Gorilla Glass DX+, while the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic makes do with Gorilla Glass DX. The standard Galaxy Watch 4 has a tougher screen (Image credit: TechRadar) Specifically, the smaller version of each watch has a 1.2-inch 396 x 396 circular Super AMOLED display, while the larger models have a 1.4-inch 450 x 450 one. As noted, that extra size seems to be down to the bezel and general design, while the screen itself is actually the same size on both models. You might assume that because the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is bigger it also has a bigger screen, but you’d assume wrong. Both watches can also be had with a wide variety of straps, and both are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is also clad in stainless steel rather than aluminum, and it comes in a choice of black or silver shades. This is handy for navigating the watch, and gives it a more classy design, where the standard Galaxy Watch 4 is more sporty and uses a virtual bezel for navigation. It’s bigger and heavier primarily because it has a rotatable bezel around the edge of the screen. The Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic meanwhile is significantly bigger, coming in at 41.5 x 41.5 x 11.2mm and 47g (excluding the strap) if you pick the 42mm model, or 45.5 x 45.5 x 11.0mm and 52g (again excluding the strap) if you choose a 46mm one.
